Privacy Policy

Inku (“the app,” “we,” “us”) is a single-user iOS instant-camera app. You take a photo, write a line under it while the picture develops, and the result lives on your private map. We are designed to collect as little as we possibly can — most of what you create on Inku never leaves your iPhone.

1. What we collect

  • Anonymized usage data, to help us make Inku better. That's it.
  • Your pictures never leave your phone (or your iCloud account, if you're signed in to iCloud). We don't have access to them, nor to your location data.

2. Camera and location

Inku asks for two iOS permissions:

  • Camera — required to take a photo. Without it the camera screen shows a permission prompt and nothing else works. We never use the camera in the background; it activates only when the app is in the foreground.
  • Location, when-in-use — used at the moment of capture to stamp the coordinate onto the Inku. If you deny it the rest of the app still works; your captures simply do not appear on the map. We never request background location.

3. Analytics

Anonymous, aggregate events tied to a randomly generated device ID — never your name, email, or Apple ID.

4. Sharing

You can send a single Inku to anyone using the iOS share sheet (iMessage, Mail, AirDrop, third-party apps). The Inku you share is a flat image — the mascot stamp in the corner is the only watermark. Sharing happens through the system share sheet; we never see who you sent it to.

5. In-app purchases

Inku Plus is a one-time non-consumable purchase processed by Apple via StoreKit. We never see your payment info, billing address, or Apple ID. We receive only a confirmation that the purchase succeeded, which lets us unlock the additional printers and remove the shot limit.

6. Children

Inku is rated 4+ and is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13. If a parent or guardian believes a child has provided us information they shouldn't have, please contact us and we will delete it.

7. Your rights

  • Delete a single Inku: tap it in the map and choose Delete.
  • Delete all captures: uninstall the app. Local data is wiped on uninstall.
  • Stop iCloud sync: iOS Settings → [Your name] → iCloud → Apps using iCloud → Inku → off.
  • Revoke camera or location access: iOS Settings → Privacy & Security.

8. Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle data, we will update this page and bump the date at the top. Significant changes will be highlighted in the app on first launch after the update.
